This poem was a little bit hard to understand. I even had to find it in Spanish to make it more clear. In the play ''Raisin in the Sun'' each of the characters has a dream. A dream that is different from each other, but their dream has the same purpose. For example, the Dad wants to invest the insurance money and take their family ahead. Grandma wants to spend it in a house and other things to make the family happier and more comfortable. The daughter wants to use it to pay her Medicine school and then work for her family. So each of them has different dreams,but seeking family welfare. This poem talks about dreams. What I understood about the poem is that you don't achieve your dream, does it dies.? I think it relates to the play because at the beginning they struggle looking for what to do with the money. In what dream spend the money. So if they spend it in one dream, do the other dreams die? At the end of the play the manage to fairly divide the money and achieve the dream of every family member.
I think ''Raising in the Sun'' has a stronger ending because you see how many problems do they have to go trough and you realize how they manage to solve all this problems and literally you exhale and smile of how they figure out what to do with their life. This is very strong, achieving all their dreams and not leaving any behind.
I relate this picture with the plays because in both of them they go trough some racism issues. Marin Luther King Jr. was an activist in terms of this and because of his actions a lot of African-American families live happier.
